Position OverviewAre you an MEP professional ready to move beyond basic production and take ownership of complex, multidisciplinary projects? We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join an elite Orlando-based team. In this role, you aren't just a designer-you are a key integrator, responsible for the technical success and project management of sophisticated HVAC systems across the commercial, healthcare, and educational sectors.
Joining our team means stepping into a collaborative, well-respected environment where your technical solutions directly impact essential community infrastructure. We are looking for a hands-on professional who thrives in the design phase but is ready to steer the broader project mission. With a focus on mentorship and high-level coordination, this is the ideal platform for an ambitious engineer with 2-6 years of experience to transition into a leadership-oriented career trajectory.
Core Responsibilities- High-Impact Design: Execute hands-on design and engineering for complex HVAC systems, including cooling/heating load calculations, ductwork/piping sizing, and equipment selection (DX, chilled water, pumps, and cooling towers).
- Project Stewardship: Direct internal and external disciplinary coordination, ensuring that mechanical systems are perfectly integrated with architectural and electrical requirements from conception through construction.
- BIM Excellence: Develop and manage high-fidelity models within a Revit environment, maintaining the highest standards of technical accuracy and data integrity.
- Technical Deliverables: Produce comprehensive plans, specifications, and reports that meet rigorous quality standards and project schedules.
- Compliance & Coordination: Navigate the complexities of building codes and specialized site requirements, including those for government buildings and school districts.
- Team Integration: Provide effective communication to department staff and team members, ensuring that design intent is seamlessly translated from the workstation to the construction site.
Required Qualifications- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
- Experience: 2-6 years of experience within a consulting engineering (MEP) environment.
- Sector Background: Specific background in MEP design for building systems (Commercial, Healthcare, or Education); backgrounds in manufacturing or pharmaceutical design are not a fit for this role.
- Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; working knowledge of building modeling software such as IESVE.
- Technical Acumen: Strong "hands-on" design capabilities with a deep understanding of HVAC load calculations and equipment sizing.
- Safety & Security: Must be able to pass criminal background checks (including the Jessica Lunsford Act and FBI clearance) for access to sensitive school and government sites.
Preferred Qualifications- Professional Drive: Prior experience or a strong desire to transition into project management.
- Advanced Modeling: Sophisticated knowledge of BIM workflows and digital project delivery.
- Licensure: While a PE is not required, progress toward licensure is a plus.
