As a non-profit, neutral convener, BlueForge Alliance aligns strategy with execution to coordinate regional stakeholders, assess and propose high-value efforts, and rapidly establish and deploy U.S. Department of Defense investments. By streamlining competing priorities and viewpoints, we aim to increase manufacturing capacity and technology adoption, boost the number of available suppliers and diversify investment into the defense industrial base.
Position Summary:The Engineering Intern executes defined technical tasks in support of Advanced Manufacturing initiatives. The role is designed to build foundational engineering capability through direct contribution to active projects. The intern applies core engineering principles, supports analysis and design efforts, and produces technical outputs under supervision. Performance is measured by quality, reliability, and the ability to translate instruction into execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •
Project Support:o Execute assigned engineering tasks in support of active projects with defined scope and deliverables
o Apply engineering fundamentals to support design, analysis, and implementation activities
o Generate and review models and drawings in accordance with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards
o Support design reviews, change processes, and root cause analysis efforts
o Maintain alignment with project requirements, specifications, and timelines.

Research and Analysis:o Conduct targeted research to inform engineering decisions and project direction
o Compile, structure, and present technical data to support team analysis
o Translate technical findings into clear inputs for decision-making

Documentation:o Produce and maintain technical documentation including drawings, specifications, and reports
o Ensure accuracy, traceability, and consistency across all deliverables

Testing and Validation:o Execute test activities to validate performance and reliability of engineering solutions
o Capture, document, and communicate test results
o Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions

Learning and Development:o Actively seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and skills through training, workshops, and mentorship.
o Apply learned concepts to real-world engineering challenges.

RequirementsRequired Skills/Abilities: • Strong academic performance in relevant coursework.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and concepts.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to engineering projects.

• Proficiency in relevant software tools and applications.
Education, Certifications, and Experience:• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering or a related field.
• Desired experience with part and assembly design and drawing generation in Dassault SolidWorks software and drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2018.
• Previous work experience in related industry preferred.
Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
