Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
  • Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality of welded components.
  • Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of laser welded joints.
  • Maintain and calibrate laser welding equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Develop and deliver training to production personnel on laser welding techniques and safety.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in laser welding metallurgy, material interactions, and defect analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming and operating laser welding equipment, including parameter optimization.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and its application to weldment inspection and quality control.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic automation and programming (e.g., ABB, Fanuc).
  • Familiarity with metallurgical analysis techniques (e.g., metallography, SEM, EDS).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
