RF Design Engineer - Principal, Sr. Principal,Consulting positions

Job Description
The Business Unit is responsible for the design andproduction of diodes, MMIC, RF Amplifier Modules and RF Power Transistors. Weare currently looking for an Senior RF Design Engineer working in ourIntegration team located in San Diego, CA, and reporting to the EngineeringDirector.

A Senior Design Engineer will be responsible fordeveloping RF modules from conceptual to production release phases, accordingto MACOM's NPD procedures. This includes:
  • Participating to product definition, in order toassess feasibility and define target specifications.
  • Executing schematic circuit simulations and EMsimulations.
  • Designing test circuits for evaluation and productiontesting.
  • Generating layouts and assembly drawings.
  • Device characterization and modeling.
  • Maintaining a fully equipped test bench.
  • Delivering fully characterized prototype samples (RF,thermal). Material procurement for prototypes.
  • Generating design reports, progress reports, testreports, datasheets and bill of materials.
  • Organizing design reviews.
  • Cooperating with Project Manager in order to maintainan up-to-date project plan and schedule.
  • Cooperating with Packaging & Assembly team toensure compliance to manufacturing design rules and to develop cost effectivesolutions that lead to high production yields.
  • Cooperating with Product Engineering team forproduction release.
  • Keeping up to date with latest technologies(semiconductor, assembly, packaging, tools).
  • Customer support (sampling and application notes).
  • Coaching and mentoring of more junior engineers.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in electrical engineering or Master'sdegree.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with Microwave Power Amplifier designtheory and techniques.
  • Familiarity with electrical simulation tools such asMWO or ADS (MWO preferred).
  • Familiarity with EM simulation tools (such as AXIEMor other).
  • Familiarity with Thermal simulation tools (such asSYMMIC or other) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other layout drawingtool.
  • Familiarity with RF measurement techniques forsmall-signal and large-signal characterization of amplifiers: benchcalibration, S-parameters, 1-tone and 2-tone power sweep measurements, pulsedmeasurements. Load-Pull experience is a plus. Experience of automation of testsetup is a plus.
  • Hands-on board level tuning.
  • Good communication, organization and documentationskills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long lastingpartnerships. Ability to work in fast pace environment.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

The Salary Range for this position is $98,000 -$240,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors,including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates' experience,education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.

This position is eligible to receive restricted stockunit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM's discretion, subject toindividual and company performance.
