POSITION SUMMARY: Will-Burt Integration (Aluma Tower and ITS) is the market-leading OEM of mobile trailer telescoping tower and mast products and integrated systems serving defense, first responder, commercial, and industrial markets worldwide. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a highly capable and collaborative engineering team focused on designing and integrating rugged electro-mechanical mobile trailer systems used in demanding, real-world environments.

This role offers the opportunity to design and support advanced system design for complex, vehicle-mounted and trailer-based system integration such as telescoping lattice towers and masts, climate-controlled shelters, tilt systems, power management, radar and surveillance integration, and communications payloads.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mobile Trailer System Integration Design
  • Design and release mobile trailer systems capable of operating in harsh, outdoor, off-road vehicle environments including:
    • Trailer and System component selection and design
    • Sheet metal, weldment, and sub-assembly design
    • Simulation and analysis
    • Creation of 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings, including Bill of Materials (BOM)
    • Integration of customer critical payloads
  • Support Application Engineering and Sales teams by providing product selection guidance and evaluating system performance relative to customer specifications
  • Design systems for both standard product offerings and customer specifications
  • Develop, prototype, and test new products to expand system capabilities

• Demonstrate initiative and accountability to meet project milestones and schedules

Customer Support
  • Participate in internal and customer-facing design reviews
  • Prepare customer drawings, schematics, and supporting technical documentation for projects and business development efforts
  • Provide technical support to Sales and Application Engineering teams

Manufacturing & Operations Support
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving production and customer field issues
  • Support initial production pilot runs and prototype builds
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure designs enable efficient assembly and cost-effective production
  • Identify and specify replacement components for obsolete or hard-to-source parts
  • Ensure accurate documentation and execution of engineering changes
  • Support Quality and Operations teams during program execution

Product Ownership & Technical Leadership
  • Act as a technical subject-matter expert and product resource for cross-functional teams
  • Ensure system designs comply with applicable regulatory requirements and standards, including DOT, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and others
  • Develop and implement tools, methods, and processes to improve engineering efficiency and product development effectiveness

CAD System
  • Create and maintain 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and EPDM (Vault)

• Perform simulations and analyses using SolidWorks tools

Travel (Optional)
  • Opportunities exist to travel to suppliers, customers, and industry trade shows
  • Travel requirements can be minimized for candidates preferring a primarily site-based role

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software, or extensive experience with another CAD platform and willingness to learn SolidWorks
  • Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, accuracy-focused, self-motivated, and effective team contributors with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and experience designing products for harsh or demanding operating environments
