Process Control Engineer 3 Location: Green Valley, AZ
Details: 24-month contract- optional to go internal
Pay Rate: $47.00/hr
Job Summary The Process Control Engineer 3 will support the purchasing function for new technology development within Caterpillar's Dynamic Energy Transfer program. This role focuses on product procurement engineering across Electrical and Hydraulics categories, working closely with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure manufacturable, high-quality components. The engineer will contribute to supplier engagement, RFQ follow-up, and early design collaboration to support successful program execution.
Responsibilities - Support engineering teams and suppliers to design the most manufacturable parts for new technology development.
- Collaborate with suppliers throughout the RFQ process, including follow-ups and clarification.
- Participate in meetings, email communication, and supplier visits to support procurement activities.
- Apply technical knowledge to review and interpret engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Support APQP and PPAP activities to ensure supplier and quality alignment.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Suppliers, and Supplier Development Engineers to support program goals.
- Contribute to purchasing and procurement activities for Electrical and Hydraulics product categories within the Dynamic Energy Transfer program.
Years of Experience & Education Experience: 5-7 years of professional experience required (internship experience not accepted).
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Skills Required Top Skills (Required) Engineering degree required (to interpret 1D specification drawings)
5-7+ years of experience preferred Master's degree acceptable with
3-5 years of experience Experience in
procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or procurement engineering Ability to communicate technical requirements to suppliers
APQP knowledge is very important (PPAP basic understanding required)
Comfortable working with suppliers in a manufacturing environment
Excel proficiency for cost and data analysis
Experience with
hydraulics, electrical components, or electrification is a plus
Creo experience helpful (training provided)
Technical Skills (Preferred) - Knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering disciplines, and quality processes.
- Supplier relationship management experience.
Soft Skills (Required) - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Disqualifiers / Red Flags - Candidates with experience limited only to data analyst roles without engineering or purchasing background.
