As a Manufacturing Engineer I - Tooling Specialist, you'll help ensure production runs reliably and efficiently by owning tooling readiness and lifecycle management. You'll work cross-functionally to deliver operational excellence while building a strong engineering foundation.

What You'll Do

Primary Impact: Ensure tooling readiness to support uninterrupted manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Manage tooling lifecycle: procurement, inspection, inventory, and replacement
  • Ensure tooling is staged and ready for production schedules and changeovers
  • Inspect tooling against drawings, specifications, and quality requirements
  • Maintain accurate tooling documentation and traceability records
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues impacting safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Coordinate repair and refurbishment with vendors and internal teams
  • Monitor performance (usage, failures, lifecycle) to drive improvements
  • Support preventive maintenance for critical tooling
  • Enable NPI by ensuring tooling readiness for product launches
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, and waste reduction
  • Support engineering efforts (DOE, validation, alternate materials)
  • Assist with equipment commissioning and qualification
  • Develop basic documentation (work instructions, BOMs, ECOs)
  • Contribute to equipment evaluations and ROI analysis
  • Apply data-driven problem solving to improve process performance

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency with Excel and general business applications
  • Basic CAD knowledge

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • ERP knowledge (SAP preferred)
  • PLM experience (Agile preferred)
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and 5S principles

Work Conditions
  • 100% onsite in St. Petersburg, FL
  • Production floor and lab environment
  • Minimal travel (<10%)
