Job Description

Job Title: Senior Civil/Structural PE Engineer

Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Civil/Structural PE Engineer to lead technical design efforts for our infrastructure and site development projects. You will be responsible for performing rigorous engineering calculations, managing 3D design workflows, and ensuring that our project deliverables meet the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
This is a high-autonomy role for a licensed professional who is comfortable acting as the technical "anchor" for a design team. You will lead the engineering analysis-ranging from hydrologic/hydraulic modeling to structural calculations-and partner with design technicians to translate your findings into high-quality construction documents. If you are a collaborative engineer who excels in a distributed project environment and takes ownership of your work from initial calculation to final permit, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Analysis & Design
• Technical Execution: Perform complex civil/structural engineering calculations using analytical software (e.g., Mathcad) and spreadsheets to ensure project viability and safety.
• BIM/CAD Leadership: Drive the 3D design process by utilizing Civil 3D to manage site plans, grading, and utility infrastructure. Provide technical direction to drafting staff to ensure drawing sets accurately reflect your engineering intent.
• Hydraulic Modeling: Leverage simulation tools (e.g., Hydraflow, WaterCAD, or StormCAD) to perform drainage, storm sewer, and water system analysis.

Project Leadership & Permitting
• Regulatory Oversight: Navigate the permitting landscape. Prepare and manage the technical documentation required for local, state, and federal regulatory approvals.
• Communication & Liaison: Serve as a primary technical contact for department leadership and external stakeholders. Clearly articulate complex engineering concepts in written and verbal formats.
• Quality Assurance: Lead the peer-review process for design deliverables, ensuring that all contract drawings are optimized for constructability and compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Licensure: Active Professional Engineering (P.E.) License is mandatory.
• Experience Baseline: 4+ years of progressive professional experience in civil/structural design.
• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Simulation Expertise: Working knowledge of hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software (e.g., Hydraflow, PondPack, WaterCAD, StormCAD, or similar).

Preferred Attributes
• Strong project management mindset-you can estimate hours, manage your own project tasks, and meet strict permitting deadlines.
• Excellent technical writing ability-you are experienced in drafting reports and permit applications that are clear, concise, and defensible.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a remote/distributed team environment, utilizing digital collaboration tools to maintain design integrity across geographic boundaries.
