Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center is seeking applicants for a full-time Technology / Engineering Education Instructor position for the 2026-2027 school year.

This position is designed for an educator who can help students explore applied technology, engineering design, problem solving, manufacturing concepts, computer-aided design, electronics, robotics, and related technical career pathways. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, design thinking, safety, employability skills, and preparation for postsecondary education and careers in technical fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should possess or be eligible for one of the following:

• Pennsylvania Technology Education certification
• Eligibility to add Technology Education certification
• Related Pennsylvania instructional certification with willingness and ability to pursue appropriate certification
• Career and technical education certification pathway eligibility based on related industry experience

Industry experience in engineering, design, manufacturing, electronics, robotics, construction technology, drafting/CAD, or related technical fields is preferred but not required for candidates who hold or can obtain the appropriate instructional certification.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability or willingness to teach in areas such as:

• Engineering design process
• Problem solving and technical design
• CAD/drafting and 3D modeling
• 3D printing and prototyping
• Robotics and automation concepts
• Electronics and basic circuitry
• Measurement, tools, and materials
• Manufacturing and production concepts
• Career readiness and employability skills
• Safety procedures in a hands-on classroom/lab setting

CNC operation is not the primary focus of this position. Experience with CNC, machining, or advanced manufacturing is helpful, but not required.

Essential Responsibilities

The instructor will:

• Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in technology and engineering education.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and student-centered classroom/lab environment.
• Develop lessons aligned to program competencies, academic standards, and career readiness expectations.
• Assess student progress through projects, performance tasks, written work, and technical skill development.
• Support students of varying ability levels, including students with IEPs and diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with CTC staff, sending schools, industry partners, and advisory committee members.
• Promote student participation in career awareness, technical skill development, and work-based learning opportunities.
• Maintain required documentation, grades, safety records, and program-related reports.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with high school students and can make technical content accessible, practical, and engaging. Strong candidates may come from education, industry, engineering, technical trades, design, manufacturing, or related applied technology backgrounds.

Candidates do not need to be experts in every technical area listed. A willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within the program is valued.
