Job Description:
Design and Technical Oversight
Review and evaluate electricaldesign drawings, calculations, and specifications for compliance withUSACE, NEC, UFC, NFPA, and other federal standards.
Support design development forlow and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, and communicationsystems.
Coordinate with mechanical,structural, and civil disciplines to ensure integrated system design.
Prepare design analyses,technical reports, and recommendations to support project development andexecution.
Participate in constructabilityreviews, value engineering, and life-cycle cost evaluations.
Construction and Quality Assurance:
Conduct field inspections andquality assurance surveillance for electrical systems and related works.
Monitor Contractor QualityControl (QC) operations to ensure compliance with project specificationsand safety standards.
Receive, review, and processsubmittals and shop drawings using RMS; ensure proper documentation,review, and reporting.
Prepare and submit dailyinspection reports documenting progress, labor, materials, and anyobserved deficiencies.
Maintain records of materials,test results, and "as-built" conditions.
Conduct joint, pre-final, andfinal inspections and verify corrective actions are completed.
Inspect safety precautions andenforce corrective measures for noncompliance.
Participate in commissioningand testing of electrical and control systems.
Project and Field Support:
Review construction materials,workmanship, and adherence to approved submittals.
Inspect installations includingpower distribution systems, lighting, switchboards, motors, controllers,transmitters, automatic controls, air conditioning systems, and pumpingstations.
Verify performance of testingand collect samples for laboratory analysis.
Monitor project progress andestimate work completion percentages.
Assist with coordination forutility relocations (electrical and communication systems).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in ElectricalEngineering from an accredited institution.
5-10 years of relevantexperience in electrical design, construction, or project inspection(USACE or federal experience preferred).
Professional Engineer (PE)license preferred but not required.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, RMS,and Microsoft Office Suite.
In-depth knowledge of NEC, UFC,NFPA, and USACE engineering procedures.
Strong documentation,reporting, and communication skills.
Ability to interpretconstruction schedules and safety plans.
Ability to travel to projectsites within the USACE Caribbean District as needed.
Preferred Experience:
Prior work on USACE, NAVFAC, orother federal design/construction projects.
Experience with backup powersystems, renewable energy, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Familiarity with design-builddelivery and government submittal processes.
Knowledge of LEED orsustainable design standards.
Experience overseeing majorcivil works and vertical construction projects such as hurricane gates,Army reserve centers, schools, and housing facilities.
