Job Description

Mechanical Engineering AI Trainer

About the Role

We partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models - and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. This is a unique opportunity to apply your deep domain expertise in a completely new way: stress-testing and refining advanced AI systems on problems in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and more.

If you've ever wanted to see how cutting-edge AI thinks - and then make it think better - this role is for you.

    : 10-40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Challenging Problems
    - Craft advanced mechanical engineering problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics that push AI models to their limits
  • Author Gold-Standard Solutions
    - Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
  • Audit AI Reasoning
    - Evaluate AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (ASME, ISO, etc.)
  • Sharpen Model Thinking
    - Identify flaws in AI reasoning - such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or faulty failure analysis - and provide structured feedback to improve model performance

Who You Are

  • Holds a Master's (pursuing or completed) or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
  • Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical derivations clearly in writing
  • High attention to detail when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and system constraints
  • No prior AI experience required - we'll get you up to speed

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review processes
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, ANSYS, or similar tools
  • Background in academic research or technical writing

Why Join Us

  • Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research teams
  • Fully remote and flexible - work on your own schedule, from anywhere
  • Freelance autonomy with the substance of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
  • Gain rare, behind-the-scenes exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and improved
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
