Job DescriptionWork on projects that enable the heart of research and development, testing, and manufacturing operations in Santa Clara, CA. You'll collaborate closely with client stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents for the installation of complex manufacturing tools, tenant improvements, and core facility infrastructure upgrades. This is a contract role with intent to hire.
Pay: $40.87- $57.69 per hour DOE Responsibilities: - Design and layout wet and dry piping, equipment layout, HVAC, exhaust, fire suppression, process chemical piping and gases for extensive tools in complex, densely packed industrial facilities
- Provide technical engineering design and oversight for piping for equipment water, wastewater, process chemicals, and gases
- Support retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate tool installation, including engineering calculations, equipment/component sizing, selection, and specification
- Provide support during construction and integration into the factory
- Work as the Process Mechanical/Chemical representative on a multi-discipline design team alongside other design staff, client equipment owners, stakeholders, and equipment manufacturers
- Build utility requirement documents to support development of installation design packages
- Interact directly with clients and contractors throughout the design process
- Assist with RFI and submittal services on-site during the construction phase
Required: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- 3 years of practical experience in mechanical facilities engineering (HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related systems)
- Engineer in Training (EIT), actively pursuing PE license
- Must be an on-site position in Santa Clara, CA, Monday-Friday during normal business hours (nominally 8:00 am-5:00 pm, with some flexibility)
- Ability to walk long distances, sit/stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, and lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
- Must pass background check and drug screen; must be fully authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
Preferred: - 2 years of experience working with complex semiconductor manufacturing tools (manufacture, installation, or use in cleanrooms)
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Navisworks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Forward-thinking with a drive to learn best practices and contribute innovative ideas
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and broaden knowledge base
- Ability to collaborate effectively in multi-discipline design teams
- Passion for buildings and construction
- 1 year of field experience in an industrial facility
