Airframe Engineer - San Francisco, CA - APR26 - 0701 (contract)Our client, in the San Francisco CA area focused on developing autonomous cargo aircraft for defense and commercial applications, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Structures to support the design, build, and testing of aircraft structures and flight-critical systems as part of its growing engineering team.
Position purpose/core responsibilities: Main Duties: - Assist in the design of airframe structures and subsystems (flight controls, landing gear, propulsion, avionics).
- Develop CAD models and support structural analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Support material selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
- Assist in ground and flight testing activities.
- Prepare technical documentation and design reports.
- Support production and continuous improvement of structural systems.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (master's preferred).
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience with aircraft structures or flight-critical hardware is a plus.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Knowledge of structural analysis methods (classical and finite element analysis).
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
- Familiarity with aerospace certification processes is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
