Position Overview
A leading engineering and infrastructure consulting organization is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support utility infrastructure and environmental projects throughout the planning, design, construction, and reconstruction lifecycle.
This position combines technical leadership, project execution, client interaction, construction planning, and team mentorship. The ideal candidate will have experience leading civil engineering projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions in utility, energy, environmental, or infrastructure environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead civil engineering design and project delivery efforts from planning through construction closeout.
- Provide technical oversight and quality review of engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and bid packages.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and resource planning activities.
- Coordinate with environmental, permitting, land use, survey, and construction teams.
- Perform constructability reviews and identify opportunities to improve project execution.
- Monitor project progress, financial performance, risks, and key project milestones.
- Support reconstruction, rehabilitation, and infrastructure improvement programs.
- Facilitate communication between engineering teams, stakeholders, contractors, and clients.
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical development initiatives.
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training efforts.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, industry regulations, and client requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum 7 years of civil engineering experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience leading engineering and construction projects from concept through closeout.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles, site development, grading, drainage, and construction practices.
- Experience reviewing engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Consulting engineering experience.
- Utility, power delivery, transmission, or infrastructure project experience.
- Experience supporting environmental or permitting-related projects.
- Program or project management experience.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and staffing forecasts.
