The Schaefer internship and co-op program provides opportunities for students to apply classroom methodology to hands-on modeling and design. The student's Schaefer advisor, mentor and the assigned project team coordinate to ensure the learning experience is relevant and challenging. Successful internships and co-op rotations may lead to full-time employment, as evidenced by our present staff of dedicated and talented structural engineers and modelers, many of whom were students here themselves. The internship position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 3-4 months during the fall semester. Scope of Work Develop an understanding of load path and simple statics within basic structures. Work to create structural drawings from engineering designs to markups. Work closely with an assigned mentor who provides hands on support and guidance while working through real projects.
