Job Description Job Description: Under the direction of the Section Manager, Design and Construction, the transportation engineer reviews engineering plans, studies and reports prepared by the Illinois Department of Transportation, counties, and municipalities for impacts to existing bus service and develops opportunities for inclusion of new bus stop infrastructure in the plans. The position also reviews private-sector development proposals to evaluate impacts on transit service and infrastructure. This individual will plan, design and perform analysis on water/wastewater engineering projects such as water main; sanitary main; pumping stations; and water & wastewater treatment facilities. The Engineering Technician shall be self-motivated, with good writing skills and capable of working in a team environment. PRIMARY DUTIES: Hydraulic calculations and layout of structures. Work on a team to produce correspondence/reports/biddable documents for water distribution systems; wastewater conveyance system; treatment plants; potable wells; water storage tanks; and water & sanitary pumping stations.
