The Standards and Innovations department's primary role in DEHE is to provide technical review and guidance for the planning, design and construction of water, wastewater, and solid waste sanitation infrastructure for native communities throughout Alaska. We provide quality review services of all planning and design work and as well as on-site inspection services of materials, ongoing construction work and completed project work. S&I also establishes Standard Details (in collaboration with Engineering Services) and Technical Guidance documents to provide a platform upon which the Division can base uniform and sound engineering judgement.
