City Engineer Salary Range: $133,055 to $187,252 NATURE OF WORK Working under the general direction of the Director of Public Works, the City Engineer oversees the design and construction of capital improvement projects related to streets, bridges, sidewalks, storm drainage infrastructure and buildings. The City Engineer oversees and is responsible for permitting the construction of sidewalks and driveways within public right-of-way. The City Engineer oversees all survey work for the City of Fremont. The City Engineer works directly with other departments to coordinate construction activities and provide support as needed. The City Engineer provides technical and engineering advice to the Director of Public Works, City Council, Mayor and City Administrator. The appointment of the City Engineer is made by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
