Location: Durham, NC We are seeking Distribution Designers in multiple offices across the US. The successful candidate will have an interest in developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards. Distribution systems may be in an OH, UG, or URD environment. Project work may include grid hardening and reliability, substation optimization, joint use make ready and street light projects. Work packages will be developed using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems. Project work will require performing engineering calculations that may include: structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Job Description The Team We are seeking a Specialty Engineer I to join American Tower's U.S. Tower division's Engineering department's Specialty Engineering team. The team develops infrastructure designs to support the construction of a diverse group of telecommunications facilities including civil site, in-building, power, network connectivity, and small data center solutions. These designs include, but are not limited to, civil engineering for access roads, small- to medium sized buildings, fiber and copper infrastructure, electrical power plants, battery backup, etc., all of which aim to build scalable and robust infrastructures for deploying network solutions.
