Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer supports daily production in a metal stamping environment by improving manufacturing processes, resolving quality issues, and ensuring consistent product performance. This role works closely with production, tooling, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot problems, reduce scrap, and maintain compliance with customer quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Process Support

• Support daily stamping operations by troubleshooting tooling and process issues.

• Monitor process performance and material flow to ensure stable production.

• Work with set up personnel and press operators to optimize setups and improve running efficiency.

• Assist with laser programing, die tryouts, new tooling launches, and process validation.

• Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, material utilization, and set up time.

Quality Engineering

• Investigate internal and customer quality concerns including dimensional issues and defects.

• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conforming parts.

• Implement containment and corrective actions to protect customer shipments.

• Track scrap trends and implement improvements to reduce defects.

• Support customer complaints, 8D reports, and corrective action documentation.

Quality Systems & Documentation

• Develop and maintain manufacturing and quality documentation including:

o Process Flow Diagrams

o PFMEA

o Control Plans

o Work Instructions

o Inspection standards

o Perform and/or coordinate Internal Audits in compliance with ISO9001:2015

• Monitor process capability using SPC and statistical analysis.

• Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 and customer quality requirements.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead initiatives to reduce:

o Scrap

o Rework

o Downtime

o Process variation

• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as:

o 5S

o Kaizen events

o Waste reduction projects

• Analyze production and quality data to identify process improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with:

o Production supervisors

o Tooling / die maintenance

o Quality inspectors

o Maintenance technicians

• Train operators and technicians on process controls and quality standards.

• Support PPAP submissions and new product launches.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes.

• Experience with SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.

• Ability to read engineering drawings and working knowledge of GD&T.

• Familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).

• Experience in metal stamping or aerospace manufacturing preferred.
